APC Slams Babafemi Ojudu Over ‘Lagos on Fire’ Comment

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a swipe at former presidential aide, Babafemi Ojudu, for his recent statement suggesting that Lagos State is “on fire,” describing the remark as reckless and misleading.

Ojudu, a former Special Adviser to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, stirred controversy with a social media post implying a breakdown of order in Nigeria’s commercial capital. His comment came in the wake of recent incidents of unrest and rising tension in parts of the state.

Reacting to the statement, the Lagos State chapter of the APC, through its Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, condemned Ojudu’s remarks, accusing him of spreading alarmist narratives aimed at discrediting the state government and stoking unnecessary fear among residents.

“This is not only untrue but a gross exaggeration of isolated incidents that security agencies have swiftly addressed,” Oladejo said. “Ojudu’s words are unbecoming of a person who once held high public office and should know better than to inflame public opinion with careless utterances.”

The APC maintained that while no society is entirely free from challenges, Lagos remains one of the most stable and secure states in the country under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The party urged Nigerians to disregard what it called an “unfounded outburst” and focus instead on supporting efforts being made to maintain peace and order across the state.

Meanwhile, security operatives have continued patrols in strategic areas across Lagos, with police authorities insisting that there is no cause for alarm.

Ojudu is yet to respond to the backlash sparked by his statement.
