The European Union has condemned Russia after reports confirmed that Russian drones breached Polish airspace during overnight attacks near the Ukraine border.
Polish defense officials said the drones entered their territory before exiting, sparking alarm in Warsaw and among NATO allies. The incident prompted Poland to summon Russia’s ambassador and request an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council.
In a strongly worded statement, the EU described the drone violations as “aggressive and reckless,” warning that such actions could escalate tensions and threaten regional stability.
European Commission officials reaffirmed their support for Poland’s sovereignty and security, stressing that NATO’s eastern flank must not be undermined.
The latest incursion adds to growing concerns over spillover effects from the war in Ukraine, with analysts warning that continued provocations could push the conflict closer to NATO’s doorstep.
