The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been ranked 30th in the latest FIFA Men’s World Ranking, a drop of two places from their previous 28th position.
The rankings, released by the Federation of International Football Association on Thursday, place Nigeria ahead of the reigning 2023 CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) champions, Côte d’Ivoire, and seven-time AFCON winners, Egypt.
Following their participation in two friendly matches after the AFCON tournament, the Super Eagles secured a 2-1 victory against West African rivals Ghana but suffered a 2-0 defeat to Mali.
According to the rankings, Nigeria now occupies the third position in African football, trailing behind Morocco and Senegal.
Leading the global ranking is the 2022 World Cup winner, Argentina, with the tournament’s runner-up, France, in second place. Belgium holds the third position, while England is ranked fourth.
