Minister of Information and National Orientation Signs Performance Bond with Parastatal Heads

Abuja — In a move aimed at bolstering the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda, Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, has signed a performance bond with the heads of various parastatal agencies. The signing took place at the sectoral retreat of the Ministry of Information and National Orientation and its agencies on Tuesday.

The agencies involved in the performance bond include prominent national organizations such as Voice of Nigeria, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, National Orientation Agency, National Broadcasting Commission, and Nigerian Press Council. Additionally, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, and Nigerian Television Authority were also part of the agreement.

The two-day retreat, themed “Delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda: The Role of Ministry of Information and National Orientation and Her Agencies,” was organized by the Ministry to reinforce the commitment of these agencies to the administration’s objectives.

During the retreat, Minister Idris emphasized the importance of the agencies’ roles in communicating the successes of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. “Since the advent of this administration, there has been a structured agenda to achieve a Renewed Hope Initiative with all MDAs involved; and with a tracking system to ensure compliance,” Idris stated. The tracking system is managed by the Central Results Delivery and Coordinating Unit (CRDCU) in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Idris underscored the need for the heads of these agencies to understand their responsibilities in delivering results to the CRDCU. He also reminded them of the performance bond previously signed with the President, stressing that all heads of parastatal agencies would now sign their own performance bonds.

The Minister highlighted the necessity for an in-depth understanding of government efforts and initiatives, including improvements in minimum wage, student loans, consumer credit, and support grants. He urged the participants to communicate these issues effectively to the public.

Idris also expressed gratitude to Hadiza Bala Usman, the Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, for her dedication and visibility in the role.

In her welcome address, Permanent Secretary Dr. Ngozi Onwudiwe acknowledged the relevance of the retreat’s theme. She encouraged participants to engage actively in discussions to reflect on achievements, address challenges, and strategize for future success. “Collective expertise and dedication are the driving forces that will enable us to deliver on our mandate and meet the expectations of the Nigerian populace,” Dr. Onwudiwe said.

The retreat marks a significant step in ensuring that the Renewed Hope Agenda is effectively communicated and implemented across Nigeria, with a clear focus on enhancing public understanding and support for government initiatives.
